The Immersive Learning through Science Storytelling Lab supports undergraduate student independent researchers who co-create authentic science film stories in trusting partnership with scientists. Created by Rutgers marine and plant scientists, the lab provides a welcoming environment for students to learn scientific processes and be recognized as respected members of real world science teams.
Rutgers Immersive Learning through Science Storytelling Lab was awarded the 2025 Broader Vision Award by Garden State Film Festival that included a New Jersey Senate Resolution stating:
“The Rutgers University Immersive Learning through Science Storytelling Lab has secured a sterling reputation for developing science film leaders whose projects seek to raise awareness of environmental issues and increase public trust in science and, to that end, the faculty and staff have fostered strong partnerships between student filmmakers and university scientists, thus facilitating a welcoming space in which young people are empowered do explore their creative abilities.”
